When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you've read the entire book?
I actually went into my review process pretty in-depth over here, but just to quickly answer the question... I wait until I've read the whole thing. It would bother me to make notes as I'm reading. (Aside, of course, from marking favorite quotes.)
I read your in-depth process, and have to say I'm pretty surprised. I've never really thought about tackling a review the way you do.
ReplyDeleteFor one, I'm NOT a memory woman, haha. I have to mark up my book for memorable moments or things I'd like to discuss in my review. My friends used to make fun of me because I'd carry about a pack of post its while I read and my books turn out colorful when I finish.
I don't have a rubric for a base score, though that does seem like a good idea! I just rate based on how I felt overall. I may have to adopt that idea from you! :P
I'm alike you, though, in that I tend to do my reviews soon after, if not RIGHT after, I read the book.
I don't mind long reviews, because I write long reviews myself (I'm also not sure if anyone really reads them!) I've tried shortening them down, because it seems like no one will read them, but I can't make it below five paragraphs. :/
Anyhow, I love your process! It seems so well laid out. I'm kind of jealous I'm not as organized as you!
It was a long week and now a relaxing sunny week-end. Please hop over to my blog and take part in my poll about Banned Books. Thanks.
